Check the connection path

Identify an available LAN port on your router and the connection your computer accepts. Some computers need a USB or USB-C Ethernet adapter; check operating-system and port compatibility. A network switch can add wired ports when you need several devices at the desk.

Plan the cable route

Measure the route rather than the straight-line distance. Leave enough slack to avoid tension, and keep cables away from walkways and doors that may pinch them. Use appropriate installation hardware; permanent building wiring may require a qualified installer and compliance with local rules.

Verify that Ethernet is actually in use

Connect the cable and confirm the wired interface in your computer’s network settings. Test the websites and calls you normally use. Plugging in Ethernet does not necessarily disable Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. If you choose to turn those features off, check which peripherals and services rely on them first.

Make changes for a defined purpose

A wired setup can be a practical connectivity choice, and disabling unused transmitters changes which wireless sources are operating. It does not by itself establish a health benefit or remove all electromagnetic fields. Document the change if you are comparing instrument readings, and keep the measurement conditions consistent.
