STEP 1 OF 5: THE 4 DISTINCT EMF FIELDS

Choose a Field to Explore

Each EMF type has different sources, physical characteristics, units of measurement, and practical mitigation solutions.

RADIO FREQUENCY (HIGH FREQUENCY)

Wireless Communications & Microwaves

Units: μW/m² or V/m
Common Everyday Sources

Wi-Fi routers, smartphones, Bluetooth devices, cell towers, baby monitors, smart utility meters.

How it Behaves

Radiates through air as electromagnetic waves; intensity drops rapidly with distance ($1/d^2$). Pulsed digital bursts.

Which Meter to Use

Dedicated RF Meter (e.g. Safe and Sound Pro II, GQ-EMF 390, or TriField TF2 in RF mode).

Best Practical Fix

Hardwire computers via Ethernet, turn off Wi-Fi routers overnight, maintain 3+ feet distance from phones.

Summary of Lesson 10: The 4 Types of EMF

1. Radio Frequency (RF): Emitted by wireless communications (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, 5G). Measured in $\mu\text{W/m}^2$ with dedicated RF meters.

2. AC Magnetic Fields: Created by current flow in wiring, breaker panels, and motors. Measured in milligauss ($\text{mG}$). Solved by distance and electrical wiring code fixes.

3. AC Electric Fields: Created by voltage in unshielded wiring and appliance cords. Measured in $\text{V/m}$ or body voltage ($\text{mV}$).

4. Dirty Electricity (EMI): High-frequency voltage transients on electrical wiring caused by switch-mode electronics, solar inverters, and dimmers.
